Benin Zonal Office Commemorates African Anti-corruption Day With 51 Convictions in Six Months

     It was a massive turn out of stakeholders on Thursday July 11, 2019 as the Benin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, commemorated the 3rd African Anti-corruption Day in Benin City, Edo State. The event which had the theme, "Towards a Common African Position on Asset Recovery" was commemorated with a Road Walk which commenced at the EFCC office through Sapele Road, Ring Road, Oba Market Road, Plymouth Road, Ezoti Street before terminating at the EFCC office.  Stakeholders which participated in the road walk included Civil Society Organisations, Traders' Union, members of the National Youth Service Corps and members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists. The Zonal Head, Muhtar Bello, who spoke on behalf of the Acting Chairman commended the stakeholders for identifying with the EFCC in the noble and patriotic duty. He said this year's theme was particularly important because of the need to recover and return to the good people of Africa, what has been looted and stolen out of the country by some corrupt officials. "The Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu has been working  assiduously to ensure that money stolen from Nigeria are returned to the country", he said.
