The Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde has urged bankers not to yield to pressure in the discharge of their duties but to be diligent and follow due process to safe guard their integrity and the nation's economy.
Mr Lamorde who spoke through the Head, Advance Fee Fraud Unit of the Commission, Akanninyene Ezima, gave the advice on Monday February 11, 2013 while receiving forty-one newly recruited Transaction Officers from Access Bank Plc who came on an awareness/training tour of the Commission .
He congratulated them on their appointment and advised them to guard their good fortune with proper conduct.
The team, led by Shafii Momoh of the Access bank's Compliance & Internal Control Unit, was conducted round the Operations Department in three separate groups for ease of access, where the heads of the various sections briefed them on their activities.
At the Forensic Unit, head of the unit, Ben Agwaye, informed them that his unit provides support service to the operations department in the areas of documentary, digital, audio and video forensic analyses.
The group also visited the Bank Fraud unit of the commission at Garki, Abuja where they were received by Mr Victor Bepeh.
He told the visitors that the unit has direct relations with the banks and the banking sector, adding that the visit will strengthen them in the discharge of their duties.. He urged them to follow the 'Know Your Customer' directive judiciously as doing otherwise could land them in trouble.
He urged them to be guided by the ethics of the profession in their relationship with customers.
