The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has called on Nigerian youths to be change agents, saying the fight against corruption and economic and financial crimes must be sustained.

He gave the charge on Thursday, May 18, 2023 in a lecture titled: “The Roles of Youths in Curbing Economic and Financial Crimes” delivered at the the National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, orientation camp in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos.

Bawa, who was represented by Titilola Tokan-Lawal of the Public Affairs Department, Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC, said: You should be change agents in your various engagements by refusing to be involved in any form of economic crimes and also steer clear of criminality in your places of primary assignment.

“This way, you can positively influence everyone around you.”

The EFCC boss, who also described the youth as catalysts to the fight against corruption, urged them to become whistleblowers wherever they find themselves by reporting acts that fail the simple test of integrity.

“EFCC is urging you to join the army of those rejecting economic crimes and other acts of corruption, by reporting those committing them in your locality.

Bawa also encouraged them to join the EFCC/NYSC CD group, adding that it would enable them to have an enduring relationship with the Commission.

Bawa, who expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the NYSC for the support the Commission had enjoyed from the corps members over the years, also sought the strengthening of the existing collaboration between the NYSC and the EFCC in the fight against corruption and economic and financial crimes.
