The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Abuja Zonal Command, Wednesday, March 8, 2023 arraigned Martin Chukwuma Agba on a one count charge before Justice C.E. Nwecheonwu of the FCT High Court, Kuje.

The charge reads, “that you, Martin Chukwuma Agba sometime in January 2020 at Abuja within the jurisdiction of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory dishonestly misappropriated the sum of N18,579,000 (Eighteen Million Five Hundred and Seventy Nine Thousand Naira) only entrusted to you by De Chimex Electrical Company Ltd for registration of Deed Of Assignment of Certificate of Occupancy with the Federal Capital Administration and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 311 and punishable under Section 312 of the Penal Code Laws of the Federation 2004”.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel, A.U Ringim asked the court to remand the defendant and fix a date for trial to commence.

Defence counsel, Femi Ajede applied orally for the bail of his client but Justice Nwecheonwu told him to file a formal application and remanded the defendant at Kuje Correctional Centre.

The matter was adjourned till March 23, 2023.
