Justice Muhammad Sifawa of the Sokoto State High Court today, Monday February 13, 2023 convicted and sentenced one Prince Wisdom Ifeakachukwu Okweye to six months imprisonment on a one count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence.

The charge reads, "That you, Prince Wisdom Ifeakachukwu Okweye (male) sometimes in March 2022 in Sokoto within the Judicial Division of the High Court of Justice, Sokoto State dishonestly took the sum of N54,000 (Fifty Four Thousand Naira Only) from the First Bank account number 2006329796 belonging to one Dul Nanmwa Nara without his consent, moved the said sum to your Polaris Bank account number 60120226992 thereafter withdrew same for your personal use and thereby committed the offence of theft contrary to Section 274 of the Sokoto State Penal Code Law 2019, and punishable under section 275 of the same Law".

The defendant pleaded guilty the charge.

In view of his plea, prosecuting counsel, Jameel Habeeb urged the Court to convict and sentence him accordingly.

Justice Sifawa convicted and sentenced the defendant to six months imprisonment with an option of N20, 000 fine.
