Justice M.T.M. Aliyu of the Kaduna State High Court on November 15, 2022, convicted and sentenced one Christian Ekoja Gabriel to ten years imprisonment for criminal misappropriation.

The one count charge reads: “that you, Christian Ekoja Gabriel sometime in October, 2021 in Kaduna within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court dishonestly misappropriated a total sum of N800, 000, 00(Eight Hundred Thousand Naira) only, property of Jedial Jesse, and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 293 of Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017 and punishable under Section 294 of the same Law”.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him.

The prosecution counsel, M.Lawal and defence counsel, Paul Onche urged the court to enter the plea bargain agreement between the parties as its judgment.

The judge, after hearing from all counsel, convicted and sentenced the defendant to N100, 000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) fine or serve 10 years in prison..

The convict had already restituted the sum of N800, 000.00 (Eight Hundred Thousand Naira) to the victim.

Gabriel ran into trouble when one Jedial Jesse alleged that he paid the sum of N800,000.00 into the defendant’s account, under the instruction of one Mr. Joshua Ishaku , for purchase of chicken from Olam Farms but the defendant converted the monies for his personal use.
