EFCC FC Lifts Unity Tournament Cup

The Football team of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC FC has emerged champion of the Unity Pre-season Tournament.

The victory came for the team on Saturday, October 29, 2022 in a penalty shootout that saw the EFCC FC thrashed Nassarawa United 4-3 at the Area 3 Football Field, Garki, Abuja.

Football fans thronged the field in large numbers cheering as the EFCC opened the scoring in the 7th minute after an infringement in the opposition’s box , which resulted in a penalty converted by EFCC’s Masoud Danjuma.

Shortly after the interval, Nasarawa United levelled the scores in the 55th minute, with Joshua John scoring a penalty awarded following a mix-up in the EFCC’s goal area. However, both teams failed to produce a winner at full time, leading to a penalty shootout, with the EFCC emerging victorious on a 4-3 aggregate

Among the teams defeated by the EFCC FC to reach the finals include Wikki Tourists F.C, Lobi Stars F.C, Nassarawa United and other football teams making waves in the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL.

In his remarks, coordinator of the Pre-season Tournament and former Vice President of the FCT Football Association, Patrick Ngwogu thanked all stakeholders for their continuous support in ensuring the successful completion of the competition. He promised enhanced improvement of the game in the coming season.
