Gombe Court Jails Fraudster Two Years

Justice Daraboh. S. Sikkam of the Gombe State High Court, sitting in Gombe, has convicted and sentenced Ibrahim Muhammad Nakasai to two years imprisonment for stealing.

He was jailed on Monday, September 26, 2022 after pleading guilty to one-count charge bordering on theft, upon his arraignment by the Gombe Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The charge reads: "That you lbrahim Muhammad Nakasai on or about 4 December, 2021, in Gombe, Gombe State, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did commit theft of N410, 000.00 (Four Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira) by way of dishonest swap of ATM card belonging to Dauda Hamidu attached to his First Bank plc account no. 2002031295, the sum which you withdrew without his consent after transferring the same into Muh'd Muh'd Munguno's account no. 0008654500 domiciled in Jaiz Bank plc, an offence punishable under the provision of Section 287 of the Penal Code"

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge, when it was read to him, prompting prosecution counsel, M. D Aliyu to pray the court to convict and sentence him accordingly.

Justice Sikkam convicted and sentenced Nakasai to two years imprisonment, with an option of fine of N30,000( Thirty Thousand Naira).

The convict started his way to the Correctional Centre when he was arrested by operatives of the Gombe Zonal Command of the EFCC, for swapping an Automated Teller Machine, ATM, card of Dauda Hamidu and stole N410, 000.00 belonging to him.
