EFCC Charges Corps Members on Entrepreneurship.

The Enugu Zonal Commander of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE Oshodi Johnson

has called on corps members across the country, to embrace entrepreneurship, stressing that, the nation needs young people to bring in their skills, ideas and innovation to move the country forward.

He gave this charge on Thursday, September 22, 2022 when he received Executives of the Muslim Corpers’ Association of Nigeria, Enugu Branch, who paid him a Courtesy Visit. According to him, entrepreneurship is an opportunity for job creation among youths, to overcome the challenges of unemployment.

“You are all professionals in different fields. There is a business angle to every course studied in this country. Identify a need that you can solve with your course of study, create a niche for yourself and watch your dreams grow with dedication and patience", he said.

He urged them to embrace good virtues, such as hard work, diligence, patience and contentment, adding that with such virtues, they would achieve the desires of their hearts.

Leader of the delegation and President of the association, Lawal Suleiman, thanked Oshodi and expressed a desire that, his fellow corps members would like to educate the general public on the need to ignore certain stereotypes about some parts of the country.

"From the experiences we have gathered since we came to the East, we would like to let other prospective corps members know, that Enugu is safe and we have not been discriminated against in any way", he said.

In another vein, Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Enugu Command, Commandant Aloysius Udemmadu Obiora, has called for enhanced collaboration between the NSCDC and the EFCC, to stamp out terrorism, corruption and all forms of economic and financial crimes, especially illegal oil bunkering.

He made this call on Tuesday September 20, 2022 while on a Courtesy Call on Johnson in his office.

Obiora, who was newly posted to Enugu, stressed that,
inter- agency collaboration was imperative to free Nigeria from insurgency, terrorism and all forms of corruption.

“I recognise that no agency can work in isolation, if the nation must move forward. I believe that it is important for us, as security agencies to work in collaboration with one another to destroy this cankerworm called insurgency and corruption", he said.

Continuing, “ it is important that all and sundry play their parts to redeem this nation. No one is to be looked down on or isolated, not even the public"
he said.

Responding, Johnson stressed that, inter-agency collaboration was an effective way of delivering the nation from all its challenges. “I am a strong believer in inter-agency collaboration. The relationship between the EFCC and the NSCDC dates back to the inception of the EFCC. We have been working together in areas such as counter- terrorism, intelligence gathering, tackling economic crimes, such as oil bunkering and others“, he said.

He assured that the relationship between the two agencies would be stronger and more seamless.
