Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has commended the EFCC’s Staff Multi-purpose Co-operative Society, ECOOP, for offering effective support to the welfare of staff of the Commission.

He gave the commendation on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the first Annual General Meeting, AGM of the Society, which held at the EFCC Academy Auditorium, Abuja. According to him , Ecoop has been a financial support system to its members and charged it to continue to deliver optimal benefits to them.

“ I have really benefited as a member of the Cooperative. I remember when the Cooperative assisted me in accessing a loan to pay my rent during the early days of my appointment as Executive Chairman. I thank them for saving me then, so please. keep up the good work and I wish you all a happy deliberation”, he said.

He urged Executives of the Society to invite more staff to take advantage of its opportunities, adding that, ECOOP should reach out to the newly- recruited cadets in training, proposing to them to take advantage of the property loan facility to enable them own a property from the beginning of their service.

In the same vein, Secretary to the Commission, Dr. George Ekpungu, stressed that the essence of the Cooperative is staff support. He charged all staff to be smart enough to avail themselves of the financial instruments and other opportunities available in the Cooperative.

“The only thing you have for the rainy days is the one you have saved. So borrow responsibly, get things from there and keep saving for yourself”, he said.

President of the society, Deputy Commander of the EFCC, DCE Felicia BOT –Timothy appreciated the Executive Chairman for his numerous support, stating that, he has shared in the wins and losses of the Society. In her presentation, Timothy stated that 50%of the profit generated by the Society, sourced through giving out credit facilities and other investment opportunities, will be declared and given to staff as dividend under the year in review while the remaining 50% will be ploughed back into the Society.

Other highlights of the program was award of Prizes to active members, considered best contributors under the year in review.

ECOOP was established in February 2013 .
