Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa has commended the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, on its commitments and support to youth enlightenment, sensitization and drive towards the fight against economic and financial crimes.
He gave the commendation recently at a Stakeholders Meeting held at the NYSC Headquarters in Abuja. According to him, the NYSC has proven to be reliable and responsive to the clarion for youth involvement in the fight against corruption through its support and mobilization of corps members for anti-corruption engagements. , “We are grateful for your support and collaboration, you are always at our beck and call and you have become our foot soldiers in the fight against economic and financial crimes”, he said.
Bawa, who spoke through Deputy Superintendent of the EFCC, DSE Ogechi Catherine of the Enlightenment and Orientation Unit, stressed the fact that the EFCC Chair believed in catching youths young in order to inculcate in them the necessary passion and skills for anti-corruption works. To this end, he sued for greater and more successful synergy in reaching the rural community through its Community Development Service, CDS Group and the Zero Tolerance Club.
However, Director General of the NYSC, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim in his address, acknowledged the contributions and impact of all the stakeholders in building a sustainable CDS activities nationwide.
“My administration’s resolve, since 2019, is to strengthen existing collaboration with stakeholders. It is pertinent to note that we cherish having a strong affinity with our stakeholders as they play very vital roles in helping to drive the process of actualizing the objectives for which the NYSC Scheme is established”. He also encouraged all the stakeholders for more commitment in driving the CDS as it plays a critical role in impacting the lives of rural communities.
The DG recounted so many of these benefits, such as, health care initiatives, training and mentoring, security, traffic, cleaning of the environments and more. Meanwhile, Director General of CDS, Mr Abdulrazaak Salawu, expressed gratitude to all the stakeholders and called for more synergy in the fight against internet fraud and other vices. He described the stakeholders as nation builders and collaborators of narrative changers. “We should know that the NYSC brings reconciliation, rehabilitation and reconstruction”, he said.
Other stakeholders in attendance were. Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA and host of others.
