Anti-Graft War: Navy Commends EFCC

The Nigeria Navy has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for its hard work, professionalism and integrity in the fight against corruption in the Niger Delta Region and sought for more collaboration among the two agencies.

Commodore R. T. Oladejo, Commandant, Nigerian Navy Intelligence School, (NNIS) Obima gave the commendation on Tuesday, April 5 during a courtesy visit to the Port Harcourt Zonal Command of the EFCC.

He further disclosed that his visit was mainly to introduce himself as he was recently deployed as the Commandant Nigerian Navy Intelligence School (NNIS) Obima, and sought for more collaboration between the EFCC and the Nigerian Navy in the fight against corruption.

"My visit here today is as part of the efforts to familiarise with the Institution of like minds especially when training, gathering intelligence, fight against corruption, security and operations are concerned.

"The Nigerian Navy has been a partner in progress with the EFCC; we have had a wonderful relationship with the Commission.

"I pray that it is not only when we require you to send an officer to come and teach my students or share experiences that we will be interacting with you, the relationship should be on going and we will see how we can forge ahead with the already existing cordial relationship between the Commission and the Navy", he said.

Receiving the Commandant, the Zonal Commander, EFCC, Port Harcourt Command, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, (ACE 1) Nwanneka Nwokike, thanked Oladejo for coming to identify with the EFCC.

He said that there is need for all hands to be on deck to fight the menace of illegal oil bunkering especially on the Nigerian waters.

"Each time I remember what is happening in our society presently about illegal oil bunkering, I feel like we should come together to fight it. But notwithstanding, we are in this together. I want to assure you sir, we are ready. Anytime you call on us, we will respond. We don't give excuses, it is a taboo, no matter the time, we are always ready to work", he said.

He also promised that the EFCC and the Navy will continue to collaborate in order to bring the activities of illegal oil bunkering to a halt.
