Chairman Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde has urged Nigerians and the civil society to join in the fight against corruption. He made the declaration February 28, at the 2013 Transparency, Accountability, and Good Governance Integrity Heroes Awards, organized by the Foundation for Transparency and Accountability.

Lamorde who was represented by his Chief of staff, Mr. Kayode Oladele observed that, “corruption is a formidable enemy of progress and in reality can be said to have much of its roots in the society because virtually nothing moves in our society without one form of corruption or the other”. He charged the people to always report cases of corruption without fear or favour.  He also warned against giving false report, as such attracts a fine not exceeding One Hundred Thousand Naira or Two years Imprisonment as stipulated in Section 39(2) (a) and (b) of the EFCC Act.
The awardees include Alhaji Garba Umar, Acting Governor of Taraba State, who was awarded Most Transparent Governor in Northern Nigeria. Others are the Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda, Dr Sam Amadi, Professor Longmas Sambo Wapmuk and host of others.
The unveiling of M-CLEAN Anti-Corruption Ambassador Project was done by the Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, Mr. Josiah Sabo Kente who also received the award on behalf of the Acting Governor.
In his acceptance speech the Acting Governor announced a donation of N10million each to EFCC and ICPC. However, Mr Oladele rejected the offer on behalf of the EFCC. “We appreciate the gesture of the Acting Governor of Taraba State, but we would like to respectfully decline the donation. The only support we accept is for the governors to continue to be accountable and transparent in their dealings,” he said.
