EFCC is Doing a Great Job - NBA

The Chairman of the Uyo Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Mr. Ememobong Udoh has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for her role in fighting economic and financial crimes and ensuring justice for victims of such crimes.

He was speaking when executives of the Association visited the Uyo Zonal Command of the EFCC on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.

Udoh said by the nature of the their respective calling , lawyers and the EFCC must as a matter of necessity synergize in promoting moral rectitude, social justice and the rule of law. He urged the Commission to address the issues of stringent bail conditions and access of lawyers to suspect of crime, as a way of enhancing relationship with members of the association .He however distanced the association from the activities of errant members, who breach the code of legal practice by conduct or demeanour in their liaison with the Commission.

Responding, the Uyo Zonal Commander, ACE-1 Nwanneka Nwokike, expressed his appreciation for the visit which he said was timely.

He explained that it was not correct that the Commission, "give stringent bail conditions”. “We give bail conditions depending on the gravity of the offence”.

The Zonal Commander thanked the visitors and encouraged the Chairman not to relent in doing what is right.
