The Port Harcourt Zonal Head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Abdulkarrim Chukkol, has called on the Commission’s staff in the zone to embrace integrity and professionalism in the fight against corruption, economic and financial crimes.
He gave the charge on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State while addressing the staff at the Zonal Office of the Commission. According to him, all the core values of the EFCC are meant for the strengthening of staff for effective and accountable performance in the course of duty.
"Our core values are for our empowerment against corrupt practices. We should always keep faith with them. Be professional, integrity is key. We should not compromise our values," he said.
He harped on the need for the right attitudes, stressing that good attitudes will boost the image of the EFCC within and outside the country. For instance, administrative bail to suspects, he said is free and must remain so. "Never give an impression that suspects should do or give anything to secure bail. Bail is free," he said. Your attitudes matter, not only within the organisation but even outside. Always be a good ambassador of EFCC. We should always endeavour to be our best," he said.
He also cautioned the staff of the zone against excesses and advised that peer review of behaviours will be necessary as it will assist in enforcing good conducts. "If you see any officer doing something bad, call him to order. Always try to curtail excesses," he said.
