Sokoto Chief Judge Commends EFCC for Professionalism

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Sokoto Zonal Office, has been commended for its consistency and professionalism in the execution of its mandate within the zone. The commendation was made by Chief Judge of Sokoto State High Court, Hon. Justice Mohammad Saidu Sifawa, on Monday, September 21, 2020, while hosting the EFCC Sokoto Zonal Head, Bawa Usman Kaltungo and his management team on a courtesy visit in his chamber.

According to Justice Sifawa, the interface between various agencies of government has enhanced understanding among the organs of government and added that the appreciations of others’ challenges in the discharge of their distinct mandates are keys to a healthy collaboration.

He extolled the EFCC for its efforts in curtailing corruption in the states under the Sokoto Zonal Office of the EFCC, which include, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

In acknowledging the track records of the Commission's Sokoto Zonal Office in combating corruption, economic and financial crimes, Justice Sifawa advised the Zonal office to ensure that investigators are not separated from prosecutors for optimal outcomes.

In his remarks, Kaltungo stated that the Sokoto Zonal Office was aware of the support the judiciary is rendering to the Commission. He, however, advocated for more collaboration and synergy between the EFCC and the judiciary.
