The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has again called on Nigerian youths to shun economic and financial crimes especially internet fraud and cybercrimes.

Magu stated this on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 during a sensitization lecture on the role of youths in curbing corruption in Nigeria at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Issele Uku, Delta State.

The EFCC  boss who was represented by Williams Oseghale,  Head, Public Affairs Department, Benin Zonal Office, posited that rather than engage in criminal activities that can lead to regret and gnashing of the teeth, the youth should focus on building a corrupt free Nigeria by upholding the values of discipline, hard work, integrity and transparency. "Having a corrupt free Nigeria entails imbibing the spirit of excellence, integrity and hard work and saying no to short-cut to success".

He said young people as future leaders were vital in the anti-graft war and so should enlist as foot soldiers. "It is disheartening that some young people engage in criminal activities when they should be at the forefront in the fight against graft. Today, we are inviting you to lend a helping hand in building a society where there is respect for law and order and where impunity is a thing of the past. We urge you to become whistle blowers and report cases of graft in your area of primary assignment," he said.

He assured them that the Commission will not rest on its laurels as it will continue to deal with those found culpable of economic and financial crimes.
