The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has charged members of the National Youth Service Corp, NYSC-EFCC Anti-Corruption Community Development Service, CDS Group, Borno State chapter, to shun corruption and to be Vanguards of Change.
“You are the Vanguard of Change, and I urge you to fight corruption anywhere you find yourself n Nigeria,” he said.
He gave the charge through the Head, EFCC Maiduguri Zonal Office, Lawrence Iwodi, who received the new and outgoing Executive members of the CDS group on a visit, on June 24, 2019.
He noted that it was impressive that young men and women could come together to be part of the vanguard called corruption, and urged them to further rally their colleagues to enlist as ambassadors against corruption.
“That intention and desire to be in the NYSC-EFCC CDS Group, distinguishes you from the rest of your colloquies,” he said, stressing, “Your conducts determine who you are, especially on the issue of accountability, honesty and integrity.”
He added that: “Let the knowledge you have acquired be your stepping stone, let it be your guiding principles, as it pays so much to be identified on what you have achieved during your trying moment of educating and enlightening the younger ones in secondary and higher institutions of learning.”
He further encouraged the new president, Ishaya Myshelia to “continue the good work” and urged him to be the Commission’s eyes, and report any wrong doings in respect of economic and financial crimes.
Responding, Myshelia promised to continue with the good work the CDS Group was known for and to do even better.
The outgoing president, Jackson Odeh, while presenting the activities of the NYSC-EFCC CDS Group for the year 2018-2019, appreciated the Commission for the “robust encouragement” the CDS Group received from the Zonal Head.
