Officials of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) who arrived Nigeria on Monday, March 18, 2019, on a five day working tour of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday, March 22, 2019 visited the Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu.
According to the visiting Zimbabweans, the study tour was to enable them understudy the functions and activities of the Commission (EFCC).
Mrs. Charity Matumbi who is the Acting General Manager, Legal Services ZACC, led the four man delegation.
According to her, they were happy to meet with Magu, describing him as a man who abhors corruption, an attribute which manifests clearly in the way he carries on with the fight against corruption in Nigeria. “In far away Zimbabwe, we are well informed of your anti-corruption exploits in Nigeria. That is why we have come to learn one or two things”.
The EFCC Acting chairman, Magu who commended the visitors for taking time to visit the EFCC, assured that “our doors are always opened. We shall not hesitate to assist our neighbours when they come asking. Corruption is a chronic disease, it is responsible for the underdevelopment of the Africa continent, and we must come together to fight it out of the continent”, he reasoned.
Others on the visit were: Alex Masiye, Acting General Manager, Investigation; Taonashe Dube, Manager, External Relations and Tonderai Oscar Mutuke, Counsellor and Head of Chancery.
