The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission today March 14, 2013 arraigned Bashir Musa before Justice Fatu Riman of the Federal High Court, Kano on a two count charge that borders on obtaining under false pretence.
Musa allegedly obtained the sum of N1, 000,000 (One Million Naira Only) from one Shettima Yusuf as part payment for four plots of land in the Mariri area of Kano, at the cost of N400, 000 each.
The charge read, "that you Bashir Musa on or about 30th June, 2010 in Kano, within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court with intention to defraud, obtained the sum of N1m from Shettima Yusuf under the false pretence of selling to him four plots of land located at Mariri area of Kano, which pretence you knew to be false and therefore committed an offence contrary to section 1(1)(a) of The Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under section 1(3) of the same Act".
The accused person pleaded not guilty.
The prosecuting counsel, Nasiru Saleleh asked for a date for trial but defence counsel, Nasir Abdulrahaman prayed the court to admit his client to bail.
Justice Riman adjourned the case to March 19, 2013 for hearing and ruling on bail application and ordered that the accused be remanded in EFCC custody.
