The South East Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Monday October 5, 2018 kick-started its flagship radio programme titled: “Eagle Watch”. The programme was aired at exactly 9:15 pm across five states in the zone and beyond on the popular 92.9 Coal City FM of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Enugu Network Centre.
“Eagle Watch”, created by the EFCC in a magazine format is aimed at using radio as a veritable medium to drive the enlightenment mandate of the Commission as enshrined in Section 6 (p) of the EFCC Establishment Act. The section empowers EFCC through its Public Affairs Department to “carry out and sustain rigorous public enlightenment campaign against economic and financial crimes within and outside Nigeria”.
The programme has drama, news, interview, feedback and vox-pop segments and is being broadcast in Igbo and English languages. It will inform the listening public about the activities of the Commission in the zone, educate them on various forms of economic crimes and their methods as well as sensitize and mobilize them on their expected roles in the fight against graft.
It would be noted that the Commission has its flagship radio programme, “Eagle on Radio” on Radio Nigeria Network and similar programmes by other zonal offices across the six geopolitical zones in the country.
