Court Fixes March 2 For Arraignment of Notorious Fraudster, Nwude, Others

Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja has fixed Friday, March 2, 2018 for the arraignment of a notorious fraudster, Emmanuel Nwude, and two others.

Nwude alongside Emmanuel Ilechukwu and Rowland Kalu were to be arraigned today, February 21, 2018 on an 11-count charge bordering on forgery and dealing in forfeited property.

The defendants were said to have tampered with a property that has been forfeited by a court order.

However, the judge declined to arraign the defendants when their counsel, Ladi Williams, SAN, claimed to have received the charge this morning, having being served on his clients yesterday.

Consequently, counsel to the defendants prayed the court for three days to carefully study the charge.

The prosecution counsel, Nnemeka Omewa, did not oppose the prayer by the defence.

Omewa, however, urged the court to remand the accused in prison custody.

The judge refused to grant the prayer by the prosecution counsel and ordered that the accused remain in the EFCC custody until the next adjourned date.

The case was adjourned to March 2, 2018 for the arraignment of the accused.
