The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office on Monday, January 22, 2018 arraigned one Dr. Dayo Alugbin before Justice A. L. Akintola of the State High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State on a 4-count charge of forgery.

Dayo, sometimes in October, 2017 allegedly forged a document purportedly emanating from SBT Technology, Inc. to which the company denied knowledge when contacted.

One of the counts reads:

 

"That you, Dr. Dayo Alugbin sometimes on the 28th August, 2015 at Ibadan within the Ibadan Judicial Division with intent to defraud and in order to facilitate your obtaining shares under false pretence, forged and uttered a document purported to have emanated from SBT Technology, Inc. a company registered in the United States of America and signed by one David Harrington on behalf of the company as genuine".

 

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the counts.

 

In view of his plea, prosecuting counsel, Sanusi Galadanchi prayed the court for a trial date and for the remand of the defendant in prison custody.

 

However, counsel to the defendant, Adediran Adeyemo informed the court that he had a pending bail application and urged the court to admit his client to bail.

 

Justice Akintola however,  granted the defendant bail in the sum of 2million with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must have verifiable addresses which shall be verified by the registrar of the court.

 

The case is adjourned to February 28, 2018 for commencement of trial.
