The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on November 10 arraigned one Mohammed Garba before Justice J.K Omotosho of the Federal High Court Kano on a two count charge of possession of counterfeit currency.

Upon his arrest by the operatives of the commission, Garba confessed to the crime but during arraignment he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In view of the plea of the defendant, counsel for the prosecution, M.M Gambo requested the court for a trial date and asked that the defendant be remanded in prison custody. However the defence counsel, Omereonye Morgan filed summons for bail on behalf of his client.
Justice Omotosho adjourned the matter to December 7, 2016 for the hearing of bail application and commencement of trial.
