House Committee on Interior Partners EFCC on Investigation

The Chairman, House Committee on Interior, Hon. Jagaba Adams Jagaba, has indicated the readiness of the Committee to partner with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in its investigative hearing on all agreements between the Federal Ministry of Interior and any company or individual.

According to him, the partnership would cover any matter relating to the issuance of travel documents, residence permit and border surveillance, among others.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, in Abuja, on Thursday March 3, 2016, Jagaba also expressed  President Buhari’s confidence in Magu’s ability to rid the country of corruption.

"You are able, capable and willing to join hands with him (Buhari) in the audacious task of ridding Nigeria of the monstrous scourge of corruption.

Jagaba, who encouraged Magu to be relentless in the fight against corruption, further said, "in the course of prosecuting this war, you will be hated by many and called unprintable names. However, you should not be dismayed because where there is a will there is a way.

‘‘I want to urge you to continue to strive harder in order to attain higher grounds such that every segment of this nation will be keyed into the mantra of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari’s war against corruption.

"When the history of the fight against corruption is written, your name will be written in gold as the man who fought, sparing neither friends nor foes."

Responding, the anti-graft Czar, Magu, thanked the Committee for the words of encouragement and support, adding that "We need more support and are willing to key into this and participate in this fight."
