Gombe LG officers Docked For Forgery

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, January 3, 2016 arraigned the duo of Abdulmumini Zaharadeen, Land Officer, Gombe Local Government Council, and Muhammed Musa Pantami (now at large) before Justice M. G. Umar of the Federal High Court sitting in Gombe, Gombe State on a three-count charge bordering on forgery.

The accused persons, sometime in July, 2012, allegedly conspired and forged a Gombe Local Government Council Customary Right of Occupancy document.

The offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Act Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him.

In view of his plea, prosecution counsel, Zarami Muhammed, asked for a trial date and urged the court to remand the accused in prison custody.

However, the defence counsel, M.K. Gurumyen, urged the court to remand the accused person in the EFCC custody pending the commencement of trial.

Justice Umar adjoined the case to February 22, 2016 for hearing and ordered the accused person to be remanded in prison custody.
