A Federal High Court sitting in Kano presided over by Justice Faruk Lawal on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 dismissed an application filed by one Haruna Namadi in which he sought to prevent his arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The suspect through his counsel, Mas’ud Ibrahim, had filed an application alleging that the charge against him did not include a proof of evidence, contending that it falls short of the requirements for preferring a charge.
Responding also to the application, the prosecuting counsel, S H. Sa’ad told the court that the defence counsel did not study the charge and has deliberately misled the court in his effort to prevent his client from being arraigned.
In his ruling, Justice Lawal dismissed the application of the defence for lack of merit while adjourning the case to December 4, 2014 for arraignment.
The suspect, a former driver with one of the new generation banks, is alleged to have conspired with another suspect to fraudulently steal N17million from the account of a prominent traditional ruler.
