EFCC Docks Four for N600m Land Scam in Enugu

The Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, arraigned four persons before Justice A.O Onovo at State High Court, Enugu on a five count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing by conversion contrary to Sections 495 (a) and 342, 343 of the Criminal Code Law of Enugu State, 2004.
The defendants are Nsude Oguejiofor, Ogbe Emmanuel Monday, Benjamin Onyekachi Nnaji and Nsude Sylvester Chukwuani.
Alleged N1.35bn Fraud: Appeal Court Reserves Ruling in Sule Lamido’s No Case Submission

The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal has reserved ruling in the appeal by a former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, challenging the decision of the Federal High Court dismissing his no case submission. The former governor, his two sons, Aminu and Mustapha, Aminu Wada Abubakar, and their companies, Bamaina Holdings Ltd and Speeds International Ltd are standing trial before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court, Abuja on a 37-count amended charge of money laundering to the tune of N1.35 billion fraud.
Lamido allegedly abused his position as governor between 2007 and 2015 and laundered several sums of money which he received as kickbacks from companies that were awarded contracts by Jigawa State Government under his leadership.
EFCC Sensitizes Real Estate Operators, Warns Against Money Laundering

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has charged real estate operators in Port Harcourt and environs to be professional and ensure due diligence in dealing with their customers.
Assistant Commander of the EFCC, Ibinabo Mary Amachree gave the charge in a welcome address to participants at a recent sensitization workshop on Anti-Money Laundering, Combating the Financing Terrorism and Countering Proliferation Financing, AML/CFT/CPF organized by the Special Control Unit against Money Laundering, SCUML at Osborn La Palm Royal Resort, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Court Sends 19 Internet Fraudsters to Prison in Benin

Justices Efe Ikponmwonba and M. Itsueli of Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, convicted and sentenced 19 Internet fraudsters to prison for fraud.
The convicts are Fidelis Esajini, Nicholas Azeke, Marvelous Alakpa, Adelike Ifeakachukwu Destiny, Osamwingie Osarenwinda, Mathias Friday Gbenga; Collins Etiosa Iyekeoretin, Anyanwu Miracle, Justice Aifo, Emmanuel Efetobor.
EFCC Arrests 33 Internet Fraud Suspects in Ilorin, Maiduguri

In its bid to curb the tide of internet fraud related crimes among the youths, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 33 cybercrime suspects in Ilorin, Kwara State and Maiduguri, Borno state.
Twenty (20) of the suspects were nabbed in Ilorin while the other 13 suspects were arrested in Maiduguri.
