Olubadan Pledges Support to EFCC Against Illegal Miners

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr.) Olalekan Ishola Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, has pledged his support to the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in tackling the menace of illegal mining activities in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Oba Balogun made the pledge on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, when he received in his palace, the Acting Zonal Commander of the Ibadan Command of the EFCC, ACE I Halima Mustafa Rufa’u on a familiarization visit.

The Acting Executive Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulkarim Chukkol on Monday, July 31, 2023, charged law enforcement agencies to take advantage of the Proceeds of Crime( Recovery and Management) Act, 2023 to improve their assets tracing and recovery efforts with the aim of delivering greater benefits to the country.
Chukkol stated this in a message at the opening ceremony of a 4-day capacity building workshop on the proceeds of crime at the EFCC Academy, Abuja.
EFCC Advocates Reform of Whistleblowing Policy

The Acting Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulkarim Chukkol has called for the reform of the Whistleblowing Policy to offer more protection and guarantees of compensation to whistle blowers in view of the dangers which they are exposed to.
He made the plea on July 27, 2023 in Calabar, Cross River State during a town hall meeting organized by the African Centre for Media and Information Literacy (AFRICMIL), with the theme: “Strengthening the Whistleblowing Policy Implementation through Whistleblower Protection”.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has approached the Supreme Court to set aside the July 25, 2023 discharge of former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido and his son, Mustapha Lamido, by the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal.
The former governor, his two sons, Aminu and Mustapha, Aminu Wada Abubakar, and their companies, Bamaina Holdings Ltd and Speeds International Ltd are standing trial before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court, Abuja on a 37-count amended charge of money laundering to the tune of N1.35 billion fraud.
EFCC Inaugurates Zero Tolerance Club in UNIMAID

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, July 28, 2023 launched a Zero Tolerance Club at the University of Maiduguri, Borno State in furtherance of its sensitisation campaign against corrupt practices,
Speaking at the event, the Acting Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Abdulkarim Chukkol, charged members of the Club to resist all forms of economic and financial crimes and deploy their talents and training to socially beneficial use.
