The Federal Fire Service has sought for enhanced collaboration and synergy with Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Commander, Makurdi Zonal Command of the EFCC on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, the Zonal Controller, Federal Fire Service Zone A, Makurdi, Comptroller of Fire (CF) I.A Kurutsi, stated that there was need to strengthen the existing relationship between the EFCC and FFS, noting that both agencies have come a long way in collaborative efforts for the good of the country.
Court Jails Internet Fraudster in Uyo

Justice Maureen Adaobi Onyetenu of the Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Monday, September 25, 2023 jailed an internet fraudster, Prince Mbang Uba, on a two count charge of criminal impersonation and obtaining by false pretences to the tune of Three Hundred United State Dollars ( $300).
One of the charges read: “That you, Prince Mbang Uba (aka Sophia Johnson) in 2023 in Nigeria within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court with intent to obtain property and gain advantage for yourself, fraudulently presented yourself as Sophia Johnson on social media platform (Facebook) and obtained the sum of Three Hundred United States Dollars ($300) only, from one Bernie Smith and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 22 (2) (b) (i) & (ii) of the Cyber Crime (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act 2015 and punishable under Section 22 (b) (iv) of the same Act”.

Six internet fraudsters - Napoleon Efe Miracle, Efetobore Prosper Eghagha, Jephthah Godbless Azino, Akiefe Desmond , Chukwuyenum Kenneth Ifeakachukwu and Efetayobor Ochuko - were on Monday September 25 convicted and sentenced to various jail terms by Justice Efe Ikponmwonba of Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City.
The convicts were arraigned separately on one count charge of impersonation and possession of fraudulent documents by the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Kwara Govt Reiterates Support for EFCC’s Fight against Illegal Mining

The Kwara State government has again reiterated its support for the efforts of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in checking illegal mining activities in the state.
The State Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Honourable Abdulquiwiy Olododo gave this assurance on Monday, September 25, 2023 when he led the management staff of the Ministry on a courtesy visit to the Commander, Ilorin Zonal Command of the EFCC, Michael Nzekwe, at the Commission’s Office, GRA, Ilorin.
Alleged €250,000,000: Absence of Defence Counsel Stalls Trial of Defendant

Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Friday, September 22, 2023, adjourned till November 16, 2023 the trial of the late Tan Ah Chai Richard, a Malaysian, and his company, Coastal Asia Investments Limited, over a €250,000,000.00 fraud, due to the absence of the defence counsel.
Richard and his company were first arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on May 22, 2019, on a five-count charge bordering on forgery, use of false document, conspiracy to forge and an attempt to obtain money by false pretence to the tune of €250,000,000.00 (Two Hundred and Fifty Million Euros).
