Ibrahim Magu, until he disengaged from the Commission, was a Commissioner of Police. He was born on May 5, 1962 in Borno State, North-East Nigeria. He studied for a Degree in Accounting at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria graduating with Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting.
He joined the Nigeria Police Force as Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1990. Magu, a pioneer officer of the EFCC was among the police officers de-seconded in 2008 when Mrs. Waziri assumed office as the Chairman of the Commission. Magu rose through the ranks and in September 2012 was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police. He was again redeployed to the Commission, during the tenure of Ibrahim Lamorde, this time, as the Deputy Director, Directorate of Internal Affairs (DIA).
He was appointed in November 2015 as Acting Chairman of the Commission by President Muhammadu Buhari. On July 6, 2020, Magu was removed as the Chairman of the EFCC in acting capacity.
