The Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER), Dr. Folarin Gbadebo-Smith has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), for its unrelenting efforts in curbing corruption in the country. He stated this on Thursday, March 24, 2022 when he paid a courtesy visit to the Ibadan Zonal Command.

“Our mission is essentially to let you know that we are here to collaborate with you in combating corruption through socio- economic research and data communication,” he said.

The Ibadan Zonal Commander, ACE II Kanu Idagu who was represented by the Deputy Commander ACE II Hassan Saidu welcomed the NISER boss and his entourage, stating that research and data are essential to the success of the EFCC’s operations. “In the course of our activities, we need this collaboration. We are happy to have you today. This visit shows that whenever we need your assistance, we can always call on you and when you need ours, do not hesitate to call on us” he added.

The NISER boss had earlier told the Zonal Commander that the visit was to familiarise with officers of the Command with a view to further strengthen the relationship between the two entities. He added that he foresees a paperless operation in the two agencies, such that data streaming will be done electronically.

“We are also here to encourage you in your duties. We are always available to assist you in any way you want us to”, Dr. Gbadebo-Smith reiterated.

The Zonal Commander thanked the NISER team for coming and emphasized that the institute’s offer of collaboration would help in reducing crime rate.
