“Don’t Give Up on Nigeria”, EFCC Boss Charges Students

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has charged students and youths to believe in Nigeria and strive to make their country a better place.

He gave the admonition today 1st March, 2022 when students of IQ Academy, Garki, Abuja visited the Commission.

The Chairman who was represented by the Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Osita Nwajah, expressed satisfaction over the level of engagement by the students and their determination to join the anticorruption war.

Stressing the need for the students not to give up on Nigeria and their immediate communities, Bawa said “anything is possible to achieve…We can make Nigeria better than any of these places we see in movies and read in books. All of them made it through hard work and individual and communal effort.”

In a lecture entitled “Dealing with Corruption in Service Delivery in the School System”, the Director, Internal Affairs, EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Shazali, who defined corruption as the abuse of entrusted power for personal gain, stressed that it was the right of all students to enjoy service delivery in every facet of life.

Shazali admonished the students to shun every form of corruption, be good ambassadors of the antigraft war and uphold the good names of their families as well as report cases of corruption to the appropriate authorities.

From the Department of Operations, Chief Superintendent of the EFCC, Alvan Guramnaan, engaging the students in a discussion on the topic “Shunning Corrupt Practices: The Experience of the Nigeria Youth”, stressed the need for youths to learn vocations in order to be self-engaged and defeat the urge to join the band wagon of cybercriminals and other financial vices.

The Head, Enlightenment and Re-Orientation Unit of the Public Affairs Department, Aisha Mohammed, also enjoined the students to be good ambassadors by joining the Integrity Club in their school and preaching the fight against economic and financial crimes.

Highlights of the event were the exciting exchange at the Questions/Answers Session and the photo exhibition displaying economic and financial criminals and the repercussions thereof.
