EFCC, FRSC to Partner on Training, ICT

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa on Monday, February 28, 2022, expressed the desire of the Commission to partner with the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, in the areas of staff training and Information and Communication Technology, ICT.

The EFCC boss spoke through the Secretary to the Commission, Dr. George Ekpungu during a working visit and facility tour of some strategic units of the FRSC, including the Field Operations Monitoring and Control Center, Call Center and the Cyber Room at the Headquarters, Abuja.

The EFCC boss stated that the main reason for the visit was to look at ways the Commission can have its drivers trained by the FRSC.

“We should have drivers that are knowledgeable in traffic rules, in protective and defensive driving. We are also looking at cementing the issue of access which was first raised by the Corp Marshal himself,” he said.

He commended the Corps’ efforts in traffic monitoring and management.

Corp Marshal Boboye Oyeyemi assured of the Corps’ willingness to work with the EFCC in training and ICT. “Your IT team can come and work with our IT in any area that will be useful to get the result which we want. The use of technology is one area we need to focus on, we must be abreast on all the current trends,” he said

The FRSC boss however called on the EFCC to beam its searchlight on the activities of Point of Sale operators, adding that the level of involvement in criminality by some of the operators was alarming and should be checked.
